Becoming Who We Choose To Become

“Our concern must be to live while we’re alive … to release our inner selves from the spiritual death that comes with living behind a facade designed to conform to external definitions of who and what we are.”
— Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Living by the “shoulda’s” and the “oughta’s”— definitely one of the three greatest reasons for unhappiness that I have found. Each of us have 4 or 5 vital aspects which make-up WHO we are, but so often we live to be what others think we should or ought to be. Each of us has a choice when it concerns those aspects which make-up our TRUE self … either be who we are, and be happy; or be who others think we should be, and be unhappy. I have not found a middle ground! There are many aspects of life that are not quite so important, but when it comes to those four or five aspects that make us who we are, we must be true to them, or suffer the inner death that Kubler-Ross describes.
